Tasmanian Gingerbread now on Facebook!

Tasmanian Gingerbread has created a Facebook page – accessible from the top right.

If you’re on Facebook, become a friend as it will be updated more regularly than this blog.
We’ll try to let you know when and where we’ll be at Salamanca Market so you can find us.

We now have a white marquee, which doesn’t stand out as much as our old red one,
but it’s much brighter and easier to see our products and $20 notes.

Don’t forget – ORDER EARLY FOR CHRISTMAS – we’re already very busy!

Tasmanian Gingerbread man in Minecraft.

Tasmanian Gingerbread man in Minecraft.

Our youngest daughter discovered Minecraft (www.minecraft.net – user: jasjam360) and drew this giant running gingerbread man chasing an existing Mario! Awesome effort.

It’s getting to the pointy end of the year and orders have started picking up for Christmas. Make sure you get your’s in nice and early so you DON’T MISS OUT!
We give priority to our wholesale customers who support us throughout the year and advanced orders, so email us today, tell us what you want and when you would like it delivered – we’ll do our best.

We will be at Salamanca Market every week – if we can, so we’ll see you there!

Run run run ….

A brisk but sunny Saturday at Salamanca Market, full of happy vibrant visitors.

Talking about gingerbread, the Gingerbread man is appropriately running Android Gingerbread OS on his HD2 phone! More info can be found at htcpedia.com

New URL / Domain Name

http://www.tasgingergread.com.au has been registered and now points to the Tasmanaian Gingerbread home page. The older run.to/tasgingerbread will still work too.

No Salamanca Market for us this Saturday, however, we’ll still be under canvas, camping along Tasmania’s wonderful East Coast.

The following week (19/2), we’re on site 44, near the old Printing Authority opposite St David’s Park.

Update …

We had a bumper Christmas, blowing away our expectations. Unfortunately we still had to knock back a few late orders despite the fantastic effort by our staff, so remember to order early this year!! A big thanks to all our customers, we hope you enjoyed the festive season.

The website has been updated, mainly the product page showing our new hangsell bags and windowed boxes and a few minor tweaks. Looking to implement an easier online ordering system.

We’ve been accepted as an exhibitor at AGFEST 2011, perhaps we’ll see you there, I’ll be the one staring at the big red tractor if we sell out of gingerbread ūüėČ

We’ll be at Salamanca Market this Saturday, but not the next one.

Long time between updates … We’ve been busy winning awards!
At the Tasmanian Fine Food Awards 2010, our 3D Train took out a GOLD medal while two other entries took out Silver and Bronze awards.
Christmas is fast approaching and we’re very busy already, so get your orders in FAST to avoid missing out. This week started with six orders before lunch on Monday, including one¬†wholesale order¬†approaching $8000! It seems some people just can’t get enough of Tasmanian Gingerbread.

We’ve now¬†tested our gingerbread after 5 months¬†in our new bags and the results are very pleasing, with no degredation in quality or flavour. We’ll continue to test over the next few months to accertain if we can safely¬†increase the suggested "best before" date further.

A few months ago, we were approached by a margarine manufacturer and given a sample to trial in our product.¬†A small test batch was¬†produced and blind taste tested¬†around friends and some regular customers, but it left a different feel on the palate. Rest assured, we won’t¬†compromise our delicious gingerbread recipe, despite¬†the margarine¬†being much cheaper than the butter we continue to use.

Salamanca Market: we’re now into the crazy time of year with more stalls vying for the limited casual sites as the weather improves and Christmas approaches. We intend to attend the market every weekend but unfortunately it’s not always possible. If you can’t find us there, feel free to pop into our Kingston shop for your supply of Tasmanian Gingerbread.

Catch us at¬†Salamanca Market on Saturday as usual, this time at site No. 7, down the Silo or bottom end. We’re at the Market every week but our location changes most weeks because we’re on the preferred casual list.

We’ve started¬†testing new bags for our products which are not only stronger and crumple less, but should extend the current 4 month shelf life out to 7 months! If these trials are successful, it will allow us to start baking earlier in preparation for the extra demand Christmas.

We’re now supplying our biscuits to Animal Asia,¬†an animal welfare charity devoted to the needs of wild, domesticated and endangered species throughout the Asian continent, who are using our specially packaged product to raise money for their Moon Bear Rescue campaign.

The Tasmanian Gingerbread shop in Mertonvale Circuit, Kingston, now stocks a larger range of Stainless Steel cookie cutters and a range of 3D cake tins which can be hired from us to make birthday cakes.

We’ll try our best to attend Easter Saturday’s Market too.
Our Easter range is also available in some stores statewide, including Norman & Dann, Barilla Bay Providore, Greenstore Gourmet, RAW, Peppermint Bay Providore, West Park Grove IGA Store, Grand Davies Central and our Mertonvale Gingerbread Shop at Kingston.

Catch us while you can!  Tongue out

Another month gone …

Salamanca Market again this Sat, despite the forcast for rain. We’ll be up the top end in our red marquee, so don’t stop half way up the hill ūüėČ

We’ve¬†been taking orders from our new¬†wholesale¬†Easter flyer displaying our small range and a new wholesale brochure, which were mailed out to our wholesale customers last week. If you’d like one sent out, email: tasgingerbread@hotmail.com.

I’d best run along …
